River Paddling

Alright, alright, I admit it: I like to paddle. Does that make me a paddler? Maybe. I hate pigeon holing myself as a purveyor of specific hobbies, whether that's hiker, biker, paddler, camper, or otherwise. I prefer adventurer or explorer, because that allows me to bounce between hobbies more easily. I do really like paddling though. Although I'm well known for kayaking on a gazillion lakes in the Ottawa National Forest, I also like paddling on rivers too. Rivers are nice because once you're on them you (usually) only have one place to go: downstream. Navigation done!

I've slowly been knocking rivers off my list in the U.P. as time and water levels allow. I've become proficient at being my own shuttle, often by bike. The few times I've car shuttled with people it has taken longer and for whatever reason I'm always the guy that has to wait around to find a ride back to my truck at the put-in. I might as well bike it because then everyone else can leave and I get a free excuse to ride solo. Load my tuck high and we'll never need two put-in vehicles again.

Find a list of rivers I've paddled on below. This list doesn't include rivers I consider to be Misery Paddle Tours. Those rivers are often as much a hike as they are a paddle and get their own sub-page.
