Middle Branch Ontonagon River (Burned Dam to Interior)
6.4 miles
October 2021
A short and sweet little run on a stretch of the Middle Branch Ontonagon River! We put in at Burned Dam near Mex-i-min-e Falls and paddled down to Interior Road. There were a few easy Class I & II rapids, otherwise it's all flat water. The forest is average, wild, and not great for camping if I recall corectly. Which is alright, because this run isn't very long and there are good camping options elsewhere if you need it.
I'm told this stretch of river can be run in almost any water level. Based on how simple it was, I'd believe it. I didn't log the CFS when I paddled through it but can't imagine it was bursting given it was late-fall. The rapids will definitely be a lot bigger with considerably more water in springtime!
